Two pieces that share nothing except the waistline. The top is champagne tulle, off the shoulder, gathered into a wide puffed band that runs right around the body and holds its own volume in several layers. At the centre of it sits a flat satin bow with long tails that fall over the trousers.

The trousers are black velvet, cut wide and straight from a high waist, and they are the plainest thing we make: no crease, no pocket detail, nothing on the surface. The contrast is the design. Tulle takes light and velvet absorbs it, so the top reads pale and the bottom reads as a void in the same photograph.
