A few minutes with a soft tape measure now saves the guesswork later. If you fall between sizes, or you simply want a piece to fit you and nothing else, almost everything the house makes can be cut to your measurements.

Four measurements, one soft tape.

Wear close-fitting clothes, or measure over the underwear you intend to wear with the piece. Keep the tape level and snug, never tight. Every number on this page is in centimetres.

If you are sending measurements ahead of a consultation, ask someone else to take them rather than measuring yourself. A second pair of hands is worth the inconvenience.

  1. Bust

    Run the tape around the fullest part of the bust, level across the back. Breathe normally, and do not pull tight.

  2. Waist

    The natural waist: the narrowest point of the torso, roughly two centimetres above the navel.

  3. Hip

    Stand with your feet together. Wrap the tape around the fullest part of the hips, about twenty centimetres below the waist.

  4. Length

    From the nape of the neck straight down to where you want the hem to fall. Wear the shoes you intend to pair with the piece.

These measurements describe the body, not the finished garment. If your numbers fall across two sizes, take the larger for a tailored cut and the smaller for a relaxed one.

Maison is made to measure

Maison does not work to standard sizes. Each commission is cut from your own measurements, taken at your first consultation, fourteen points or more depending on the piece. If you cannot come to Abdoun beforehand, we will guide you through them remotely, or arrange a tailor we trust in your city.

The table above is for orientation only. It sets broad European sizes against single reference bodies, where the Love chart maps a range of bodies onto six sizes, so the two do not read the same. The first row sits at the slighter end of the range and the last at the fuller. Maison's own pieces are cut beyond both conventions.
